I didnt mind the short version of soul land but I know it upset you and several others due to the changes from the novel especially in last weeks episode. It's only because we were spoiled with long episodes that it was noticeable and personally I'm glad they managed to air something at least considering they were supposed to be keeping safe.

mhm if they followed the novel a bit more I would have been fine with the short duration like Against the Sky Supreme and Shenyi Jiu Xiaojie, personally I would have preferred that they went on a hiatus or released once every 2 weeks as a full episode lol, but I guess the studio needs to keep releasing to make money to pay their staff

I don't think they'd have a problem if they did more merchandising. At the moment from what I saw most of the stuff available is through 3rd party so they see next to no profits from it. Even something as basic as a dvd box set is not available even though I recall they advertised something like that in the past. However, I'm not sure if it was a dvd set or just art books combined. I've searched online a few times trying to find it but no luck at the moment.

You will need to do a search on taobao and the words 斗罗大陆 DVD or just google taobao and those Chinese characters, but no English subtitles
Taobao is like a Chinese Amazon, tmall is another shopping site that sells merchandises, like Genshin Impact figurines, but postage is like super high, I wanted to purchase a Keqing (Genshin character) keyboard and gave up after finding out the postage costs the same as the keyboard

yesasia is a Hong Kong site that deals with a lot of Japanese, Hong Kong, Korean and Taiwan dramas, movies, shows etc, but they dont stock Soul Land items

Yeah DVDs are probably not a thing for them since the entire show is still available on Tencent streaming, the DVDs are probably aimed at collectors, merchandising items would probably profit the author more lol

you're right about the author getting more profit but they could also do some specialised items through a contract that would net them more profits while giving the author a cut of the money made. I'm not to worried about the postage costs because my country barely imports items I like from other countries which is a pain. I imported some neo geo aes games a while ago from Japan and ended up paying something like £70 on postage lol

It'd probably be more now on the postage if I purchased them again. We used to have a games shop here that imported a lot of games from Japan but since they opened up more shops around the country they forgot their roots which cost them customers due to not doing that no more. For Japanese goods go to shopping yahoo co jp or you can try auction yahoo co jp which is like an ebay over there, when you go to to either sites you should see a button or a popup call buyee that is for international buyers who uses it as an intermediary to buy from the yahoo shop or yahoo seller and then get it to ship to them and then to you, it is officially affiliated with yahoo shopping, so there isnt a problem of scamming, I used it to purchase many items from Japan before, the intermediary I used to use was better but because of covid they stopped sending items overseas, because of Japan Post. It is best to search in Japanese characters though, when searching in English on buyee, it might not show all the items for sale or not even show up :)

On buyee the approximate cost of shipping to UK is also shown along with the commissions and fees associated with purchasing the item, so everything is upfront before you buy, it might be slightly more costly or even less when you checkout depends on whether you use DHL, Fedex or Japan Post

I dont really shop that much so didnt really look to deeply into where the best places are. I went to ebay and double checked the items I was buying because some of them are very easily forged. Collectors dont care about the price until they sell it, I have a lot of figurines, but sadly if I sell on ebay they arent worth anything, I think there is a period where when you sell it it will be worth a lot, after which, no one will buy it since specific collectors goes through phases, Like the Saber Fate Night figurine I had, bought it for $79 it reached $300 a couple years later, now it can sit on ebay for a long time and only people you get are the ones who goes "you probably paid $80 for it, so that is how much I will pay for, deal?" lol
